Mickey Mouse tiaras purchased in DISNEYWORLD, Orlando, Florida.
Our family of six put these ears on to locate each other in the park. At first, males members objected but with the choice of color they soon changed their mind. A few days ago, I found these and thought perhaps this would be a good thing to post for PINK SATURDAY.
This week I also watched a biography on Ub Iwerks, who made the first sketch of Mickey Mouse. Go to these sites for more information:

That's all for now folks. Think I will go put on my PINK tiara and wiggle my ears a bit. Have a wonderful week-end. Thanks for visiting.

Tranquility of the Sea

The boat lights reflecting
on the water smooth as glass
or eyelids squinting, but I
can see the bobber.
I sit in the Herter's boat
on a hot August day
thinking about things
keeping quiet
feeling comfortable with the
noise surrounding me.
On the surface a fish ballet
begins as they breath in
water bugs all around the craft.
A crappie curls
while feeding on minnows.
A northern pike pulling down
the bobber
the line tightens
then snap!
I wait, watching the lily pads
dancing in the moonlight.
Near shore I can hear
bass surfacing.
I hear dragon flies
swarming around my head.
Bit. Pressing the "off" valve
I hear the air escaping
and feel the sting which
brings relief from the mosquitos.
In mid-air I catch a bat
on my hula-popper lure
squeezing under the bow yelling
"They'll gonna suck my blood out. Help. Save me."
I watch two loons
taking turns giving their offspring
a piggy back ride across Stokey Bay
sounds of lou...lou cease.
Wide wing span unfolds
as the blue herron flies
off into the sunset.
Floating logs, beavers will
fetch them tomorrow.
I hear other boats purring for shore.

I remember one summer at the cabin, everyone was asleep but me. I decided to go down to the dock, lie down in the boat and watch the stars. It was clear sky and peaceful. I saw shooting stars, the milky way, the big and little dipper. The boat rocked back and forth. After awhile I turned on the flashlight and walked up the stairs and then encountered a raccoon family. We each stopped, looked at each other and then walked going our separate ways. I chose to go inside and sleep. Perhaps the raccoons were going for a swim?

Many cabins nearby have flood lights. Pretty soon, I will not be able to see the stars because of all the lights down here on earth.

On Sunday, my daughter-in-law and my grandchildren and I decided to see The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats Cirque D'Or at Centre East, Skokie, Illinois. We saw women twirling plates. We saw men jumping through hoops. We saw a magician with a special act of changing faces/masks. We saw an unbelievable feat called Tower of Chairs which was done expertly.

Here is the website to catch the show in your area: http://www.goldendragonacrobats.com/

Saturday, my daughter-in-law and my grandchildren and I headed for Aurora, Illinois, to see a play called "Junie B. Jones." Aurora is a town filled with history. After parking the car, we saw a building where Union Officers would gather for parties. In front of that building were two Confederate cannons. Across the street from that building was an Snow Portrait of Lincoln by Joe Cagnepain http://artbyjoseph.com/index.htm. Mr. Cagnepain has ancestors on his mother's side which are cousins to Mary Todd Lincoln. Then we checked out the Gallery and Museum Shop, located at 20 East Downer Place. The store clerk asked the grandchildren if they would like to paint something and so they did. There were also interesting magnets which could be placed on a man's head or a woman's head. Both heads appeared to be made out of ceramic. Then we walked down a passageway between one block and another by a river. Icicles hung from top of buildings all the way down to the bottom of the buildings. I have never seen such huge icicles! The river was partially open. One large piece of ice floated downstream. When we finally arrived at the Paramount Theatre, we were pleasantly surprised to find an old ticket booth enclosed inside like a museum. Entry to that area was locked! We walked a bit further and found the real entrance. What a delight to be in old theatre with paintings on the walls and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It was a lovely place to be. We all enjoyed the play because of all the singing and dancing and funny journal entries about going into first grade.

I will end this entry with a quote by Joseph Gagnepain "I love snow sculpting...being close to nature, enjoying crisp/dry winter air, and being hands on with the pristine beauty of wonderful, white snow. I look forward to a good snowy, cold winter each year."

How Sweet It Is

Having a computer shut down while using a search engine isn't fun! That is what happened to me today. The fan on my computer stopped working. As a result, I was off line for a few hours. My son, Norm, came over and replaced parts, cleaned up unit and now it works. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! How sweet it is....

My husband and I picked up our car from the body shop. It looks brand new! How sweet it is....
