7/1 Outdoor Wednesday #25

While shopping at Heritage Trail Mall Ltd., located at 410 Ridge Road, Wilmette, Illinois, I observed these leaves outside in their parking lot. Weeds were hidden away climbing on a chain link fence. Some plants were facing up. Some plants were facing down. Amazing how nature decides all this by following the sunlight. Below are close-ups of what I saw. Notice the textures and the patterns.

Thematic Photographic 55 - Cloudy and Skywatch Friday #50

"There ain't no
cloud so thick
that the sun ain't
shinin' on t'other side."
...Rattlesnake, An 1870's Mountain Man

Recently, my husband and I were purchasing bait at a nearby store. As we were leaving, all of a sudden I noticed the clouds. Tape had been placed over the cracked window. The owner gave me permission to shoot what I saw but not to mention the store name. I had to go back to cabin, pick-up camera and take the shot. Then John and I fished until dark.

This week to complete two goals, I am submitting one photograph for two sites. If you are interested in participating please read information below.

6/24 Outdoor Wednesday - #24

Hello. It is time to post Outdoor Wednesday photographs. My focus this week is on patterns. Umbrella is made of light colored fabric; but the orange color underneath was an unexpected surprise.

Umbrella close-up, taken a few minutes later. Notice that the lighting changed. Sunlight and shadows dancing on fabric created this image.

Close-up photograph of a solitary leaf. Notice the rich green tones and the golden spots creating an abstract image.

Close-up of another leaf. Notice the intricate veins, the round circles and green earthy tones which make up this abstract image.

Bottom two images were taken at Chicago Botanical Gardens, Glencoe, Illinois.

Pink Saturday, June 20, 2009

Oh what a beautiful day! The sun is shining bright and the sky is blue and not a cloud is in sight here. This week I would like to post these Daylillies which have Pink trumpet leaves.

Think I'll pour some "Sweet Tea" into a glass filled with ice cubes and then visit other sites that has a Pink theme at: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/. Thank you Beverly for being our hostess.

SkyWatch Friday #49

When John and I were visiting Willimantic, Connecticut a few weeks ago, we saw this cemetery on a hillside. I couldn't wait to get out of the rental car to take these two shots. John is so patient and kind to pull over and wait while I do one of my favorite things to take travel photographs.
Lighting changes so fast. In a few minutes this is what the cemetery looked like next. Notice the sunset is in strips of lavender, pink and blue. Grave sites are at bottom of photograph.

6/17 Outdoor Wednesday #23

Here it is Wednesday again. Boy time sure does fly by when a person is having fun. Below you will discover three more shots of Niagara Falls.

This old dead tree is hanging onto the banks, as the mighty water roars and swirls.

Would you like more information on Maid of the Mist click here http://www.niagarafallsstatepark.com/Activities_MaidOfTheMist.aspx

Notice the little teeny tiny tree sprouting in foreground. Isn't it strange how plants grow in the weirdest spots like in a crack on a cement wall or near Niagara Falls?

Pink Saturday

Zippity doo dah.....it is Pink Saturday again. Here is a photograph of a beautiful park at Niagara Falls near the Children's Discovery Museum. It is also near a turn around for cars, tour buses and trolley cars. Notice the Pink tree. I believe that is a Red Bud tree at its peak.

Think I'll make a cup of tea and then visit other sites that has a Pink theme at: http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/. Thank you Beverly for being our hostess.

Thematic Photograph #53 - Road

Ah....the open highway. Get me behind the wheel and I don't put my pedal down to the metal but I do like long distance driving. I crank up the radio. I open the driver's side window. I watch the road signs. I look for new and different places to visit. This is the life for me. Click those red shoes and I'm back home with a smile and a lot of wonderful memories and soon the map will be out planning the next road trip.

6/03/2009 Outdoor Wednesday #21

This week for Outdoor Wednesday, I am posting photographs taken May 2009, at Comstock Covered Bridge, East Hampton/Colchester, Connecticut.
Pedestrian bridge which spans over the Salmon River.

My husband and I opened these wooden doors. We didn't have to pay a toll nor did we hear the troll nor see the Billy Goat Gruffs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Billy_Goats_Gruff

This is a close-up of the walls.

We took a last look at the bridge.

Fern growing on a hill.

Posted on a tree are rules and regulations for anglers.

Photo taken of the Salmon River. Don't you just love the sound of water? I do.
