Snow in March?  Vattman Park, Wilmette, IL

Down at Lake Michigan on a sunny 82 degree day.  Noticed three rocks on top of this huge boulder. I can't believe how calm the lake can be on some days.

Heavy traffic and sunset on an errand to drop off taxes.

I could hear Lake Michigan, as I placed one foot and then the other foot into the sand and walked.  Walked to where I have shot images many times before.  Always excited.  I love being outside.  My passion is taking photographs.  I remember when I bought my first camera it was a Brownie Hawkeye. Sorry, got off the subject a wee bit.  This time I had a reason to be here at this spot.  I knew that ice had formed during the winter months even though we didn't experience snow in January or February which is unusual here in Illinois especially at the lakefront.  I sighed with relief when I saw the icicles.  I was blessed to be there at sunset because the sun was reflecting on the icicles.

Quote:
"ice contains no future, just the past, sealed away.  As if they're alive, everything in the world is sealed up inside, clear and distinct.  Ice can preserve all kinds of things that way-cleanly, clearly.  That's the essence of ice, the role it plays."

March 20, 2017 - Thinking Outside the Box - Snow Fences - Quote - Albert Einstein - Imagination/Knowledge

Snow Fences at Lake Michigan, Evanston, IL

I really haven't been down to the beach this winter which is unusual for me.  I love looking for pebbles, seashells, feathers and just being down by the lake to hear the sound and breath the fresh air and see the birds and feel alive.  And so I always avoid taking pictures of snow fences thinking well, how can I do that image differently?  My intention for the year of 2017 is YES I CAN.  Challenged by how this photo really looked I used Picassa (photoshop) and came up with this study of lines, texture and oh my goodness feeling. What is your impression?

Quote:

"I'm enough of an artist to draw freely on my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge.  Knowledge is limited.  Imagination encircles the world."
~ Albert Einstein

March 16, 2017 - Outdoor Wednesday - #427 - Lock and Chain - Quote - Warren Buffett - Habits

Creative Twist

Palm trees reflected on blue surface of a storage building with lock and chains.  Notice natural lines and man made lines; natural curves and man made curves...all  this is interesting to me.  This all adds up to stepping out of a habit of looking for what is being seen to what isn't being seen.  So often, I pass by details, buildings, things not seeing but saying to my husband, "I didn't see that."

Abandoned Store Window #WP20100114051B

Drove down Highway 27 towards the town of Winter, Wisconsin to combine a photo shoot with thrift store shopping except I discovered that the store went out of business. I took out my big boy camera and starting looking around and found this wonderful window with reflections of lines, circles, and nails.  Untold stories being held hostage until some new owner comes with plans A, B, and C.  Unless the whole building is ripped down.
