3/15/2016 - Thinking Outside the Box - Grasses - Quote - Walker Evans - Seeing

Grasses, Kenilworth/Winnetka Beach, March-2016.

Notice the splash of white substance against cement wall.  Looks like winter trees to me. When I saw this photograph in my mind, I thought of Walt Whitman's Poem SONG OF MYSELF.   Image was shot from high above.  Shot was not approachable from all sides.

"Leaving aside the mysteries and the inequities of human talent, brains, taste, and reputations, the matter of art in photography may come down to this:  it is the capture and projection of the delights of seeing; it is defining of observation full and felt."
~ Walker Evans

3/9/2016 - Outdoor Wednesday - # 374 - "L" Train, Central Street Station, Evanston, Illinois - Quote - Wassily Kandinsky - Train Eye and Soul

Central Street "L" Station, Evanston, Illinois-March, 2016.

I am blessed.   My husband goes on photo shoots with me.   He is the driver. I was able to hop out and take this image at the red light. Every time at this spot I was walking or driving alone, no one was on the platform. Today I was lucky.  Yes, the camera captured the solitary figure waiting for a train versus the busyness of wires, stop and go lights and the parking sign.  Even the sky played along....notice one side is white and the other side is blue.  How odd?

"The artist must train not only his eye but also his soul."

3/2/2016 - Outdoor Wednesday - Lake Michigan Winter Scenes - Quote - Leo Buscaglia - Turn A Life Around

Trees shot through the car window during a snow storm.

It is 24 degrees out.   Windy.   A very gray day; but very photographic.   My husband drove us down to Lake Michigan and this is what we saw.  Waves rolling in and nobody at the beach.

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which has the potential to turn a life around."
~ Leo Buscaglia
