SkyWatch Friday - Image WP20160130054 - Quote - Andrew Wyeth

Quote: "I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape — the loneliness of it; the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show." - Andrew Wyeth

  1. ...I love the beach scene. In January beaches along Lake Ontario looked like this, now there's 2 feet of snow. Take care and stay warm.

  3. Beautiful photograph, and I love the Wyeth quote. I will add to what he says by saying that one has a lot less people to share nature with in the winter. Which is a big plus for me.

    2. Agreed. Only a few people show up at the beach in the winter. Mostly people are taking their dogs to the dog park. I am interrupted with the view when folks happen along. Covid-19 has changed us. Quietly they walk by. Before they would speak or at least return your hello. Adapt to the changes. And so it is. Have a nice week end. Be safe.

    1. Agreed. My soul calls to me and then I head for Lake Michigan. It is my favorite spot in the whole wide world. My heart sings when I head home. I choose joy every day. And so it is.

  7. Wow Joyce, I love this quote which I haven’t ever seen before but is so appropriate... I like seeing the “bones” of trees in the Winter and have mentioned that I actually miss that when we’re in Florida. (We are seeing plenty of tree bones here in Oregon this winter!)

  8. I adore Andrew Wyeth's painting Christina's World. It shouldn't surprise me that he made an observation like the quote you used. Your landscape perfectly shows the truth of that quote.

  11. lovely scene. I don't have much possibility to walk on beach in winter, but wouldn't mind doing so, well dressed ;-).

    1. Klara, I live about a mile from Lake Michigan. I have plenty of opportunities to go to the beach. If I choose. I am blessed. I watch the lake weekly sometimes daily. I used to walk there and back. I used to bike there and back. Now, I am a caregiver so my time is very short. I make time after an errand. Nature makes my heart sing and touches my soul.
