  2. A majestic tree but it gave me a small sense of loneliness - hoping the sunflower field was good company for it.

    1. Carol, It was a beautiful day. A family uses the shade of the tree. Sunflowers are facing the tree. It just goes to show you a tree can be lonely even in a crowd.

    1. Tom, it is definitely "windswept." Nothing to protect the tree from the wind, snow or ice. What a strong pine it is to survive.

  7. Pretty photo, but oddly shaped tree. Looks like the main trunk was chopped off. Lightning, perhaps?

  8. I used a Neil Gaiman sentence in my newsletter, the opening line of The Graveyard Book, "There was a hand in the darkness, and it held a knife." Happy Halloween! Plus, I just visited another Wisconsin distillery: 45th Parallel in New Richmond. Yum!
