Alone
holding a rock
I cracked caps on cement.
Alone
reading ‘No Trespassing’ sign
on barbed wire fence
where land mines and bombs
were hidden.
Alone
worrying about when the red
button would be pushed and I
would smell skin burning
like Hiroshima.
Alone
I heard the last
gasp of breath Dad took.
