Rainy Day

Photos taken on Highway "E", outside of Hayward, Wisconsin every Monday.  Fall colors are ending in certain areas and are just beginning in other areas.   Time to take a ride and see the colorful leaves before they are all gone.

Monday, September 25, 2017 - Thinking Outside the Box - Individual Leaf

Greetings and Salutations!

My husband and I hopped into the car and look what we saw on the windshield.  It had rained the night before.  So this leaf was stuck to the window.  I asked John if he could back up the SUV and then back up the drive until I saw a background that was pleasing.   When he stopped the car with the forest as background look what we got!  I had the Nokia phone out and took the shot.  What you see is what we got except for cropping.  Love this digital age don't you?

This summer it was hard to find a field of sunflowers.  I learned today that there are annual and perennial sunflowers.  The annual seeds will bloom the first year planted.   However, it will probably take perennial sunflower seeds to bloom two years.  Year after year I look for fields of sunflowers and always find them on a different rural road.   I also have noticed that something else is always planted where sunflowers were planted before.

Today is a warm, humid gray day; but these sunflowers make me smile.

Greetings and Salutations!

Instead of using a shredder sometimes we use a burning pit.  Look at how thinker items refuse to burn.

Monday, September 11, 2017 - Thinking Outside the Box - Glass of Water - Quote - Brad Thor - Half Empty, Half Full

Quote:

"If we talk about  the glass being half empty or half full, I want to know what does the glass look like from underneath the table?"
~ Brad Thor

Here is a photograph of a glass of water with ice cubes sweating during the heat of summer 2017.  I think the glass is refillable.

Photo taken of an abandoned railroad trestle.  My husband, John, and I were on a back-road called Mosquito Brook Road heading toward Seeley,Wisconsin for lunch at the Sawmill Saloon.  When I saw this shot, of course we had to stop.   Here is information regarding Sawmill Saloon's menu:  http://www.seeleywis.com/sawmill-menu.  If you want to kayak, bike ride, fish, use ATV trails one can do it all  in this area.   There is a place called Lenroot Inn, Moose Lips Coffee Shop and a little gift shop besides the restaurant.  I've never stayed there, just saying.  Oh I forgot to mention there is an artist who uses a saw to make sculptures of eagles and bears and other wild animals out of wood.   It is really interesting if you haven't seen that done before.
