Merchandise Mart

Tablescape, British Royal Wedding, Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Merchandise Mart, Chicago, IL.

What an adventure I had today. My friend, Susan Andrews had tickets and asked me to be her guest to attend two events at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, Illinois. First we enjoyed seeing the International Fair of Contemporary and Modern Art.

After we had lunch, we attended the second event. We arrived at just the right time at the International Antiques Fair to enjoy a cupcake. Many others were enjoying a toast of champagne to celebrate the British Royal Wedding .

Skies here aren't much to brag about. It is one gray day, another gray day and then yes, another gray day. Here is a slice of clouds and blue sky that happened recently. We may miss Spring altogether and go right for Summer here in the Mid-Western part of the good ole United States of America.

4/27 Outdoor Wednesday #120

Even though it is a bit dreary in the Chicagoland area right now, I did find these numerous lamp posts, the Chicago River and a sea gull flying up high just above the trees. There were also incredible clouds in the lower skyline. It is suppose to rain for a week with a slight break on Friday when we will view sunshine instead of cloudy, dreary, rainy, windy weather. Good thing I invested in a London Fog raincoat, it has come in handy this Spring.

Glad to see you are visiting again. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed in hopes you will return next week to see what is posted.

Pink Saturday - April 9, 2011

If you would like to participate or look at Pink items posted click on logo above. Thank you Beverly for being the hostess. This week my husband, who has neuropathy had an appointment at the Podiatrist. Included in his exam was a pedicure. I decided why not, so I scheduled a pedicure too. I only had a pedicure once before, and to be truthful, I didn't care too much for it. This time though it was a pleasure. Procedure was done with more care. The whole office didn't smell like nail polish remover nor was the area noisy. Would I do it again, by all means YES! We arrived early, my husband went across the street to a gas station mini-mart to purchase a cup of coffee; while I walked around the neighborhood looking for a shot to post for Pink Saturday. I didn't have to look far. Real flowers growing are rare right now in the mid-west; but I did find this Pink rose. Sigh, I can only dream about Spring flowers. Think I'll go make breakfast. See you next week. Take care.

An old Cherokee Chief was teaching his grandson about life. "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves." "One is evil ---he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self doubt and ego." The other is good---he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." "This same fight is going on inside you---and inside every other person, too." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old chief simply replied "The one you feed." ...Author Unknown Origin click here: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=321024

Expecting a lot of this kind of weather in April here in the mid-west. I am told rain brings May flowers. I can hardly wait to see all the colorful blooms.

Yesterday, we did a lot of errands about an hour away. It was sunny and warm there. My husband, John and I both took our jackets off. After encountering lane closures, shopping, refueling the car and going out for brunch plus several errands; we returned home. Skies were gray. We put our winter coats back on. Who would think weather could change that much in one day in the same state; but it does!

Gate with Chain, Lincolnwood, IL, April 2011

In this world, I have overlooked many things in life. With a camera in hand the "eye" sees. My husband parked the car in back of a restaurant which is connected to an alley. I noticed metal, shapes, textures. I had to have these shots. So, I told him I would be along in a minute to eat breakfast with him. Is that ok? He is used to me saying Stop Here. Over there is a shot! Lucky me, to have a partner who is so understanding.

Thanks for visiting. Hope you will come back.
