September 1, 2010 - Outdoor Wednesday #86

Welcome back. So glad you stopped by to visit. Can you believe that fall is right around the corner. Jeepers this summer just flew by. This week I am posting black and white images which were taken at Gene's Antiques, W14437 Highway B, Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin.

Image One: Canning jars in window.

Image Two: Crates stacked high on a truck bed.

Skywatch Friday - Season 4, Episode 7

Thanks to the skywatch team who are: Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and Sylvia. Click here http://skyley.blogspot.com/ if you are interested in participating or viewing blogs that have posted skies from all over the world.

Howdy folks! This week I located this sky shot on one side of Highway 27 - Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin, August 2010.

This sky shot was taken on the other side of Highway 27 - Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin, August 2010.
Both photographs were taken on the same day. Amazing! How can that happen; but it does. It is what it is.

Soft Shell Turtle. I never noticed one could play dot to dot on the shell before. His long neck can swing around and go back so far and then probably snap a person's arm off. Believe me, this guy had an ugly disposition. Turtle was captured and then released.

Saw this unidentified plant on shoreline of Lac Court Oreilles, Hayward Lakes Area,
Wisconsin - August 2010.

Hayrake. Hay is being gathered on farms nearby. 90 degree weather and humidity is gone. Rainy days are a memory for now. It has become windy, chilly and the sumac is turning red hinting that fall is right around the corner. Thanks for visiting. Come again if you have time.

Skies here have been white or gray; but a few days ago the skies enveloped farmlands with this golden glow.

Howdy folks! Glad you stopped by to visit. This week I decided to post these yellow flowers (Black-eyed Susan/Rudbeckia). Yellow is such a cool color even when the weatherperson announces that it is in the 90s.

Even though it is humid here, this flower stands tall and proud.

These two pairs of flowers seem very friendly and they are not bothered by the humidity or the heat index. See you next week.

Skywatch Friday - Season 4, Episode 5

Sometimes I just hop in the car and drive down an unknown road just to see where it goes. Of course, my camera comes along for the ride. Here is what I saw during one of my adventures.

Close-up of a billboard in need of repair, Lac Court Oreilles Casino, Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin -
August 2010.

Same billboard as above.

Close-up of sun excluding billboard, Lac Court Oreilles, Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin - August 2010.

Sunset, Round Lake, Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin - August 2010.
This is what I saw a serene, peaceful scene at the end of that unknown country road. Life is good! Glad you came to visit. I hope you will come back and view more skywatch Friday shots.

Notice leaves are turning already on Sumac.

Oh me. Oh my. 90 degrees out and we are viewing fall colors. September is right around the corner and then comes winter. Let's not rush the seasons and just enjoy all this heat and humidity folks. It is what it is.

Skywatch Friday - Season 4, Episode 4

Howdy! Who wants a Dairy Queen? "I do!" "I do!" "I do!" Six of us piled into the Suburban and off we went to town. This is what we saw as a side bar treat!
Sunset I, Sand Lake, Hayward Lakes Area, Wisconsin-August 2010.

Look don't these mushrooms look like a minature city?

And these mushrooms look like pancakes don't they?

Mushrooms are popping up everywhere on the forest floor. Aren't these natural beauties?
