A friend of mine and I took the "L" downtown to experience the Chicago Turkish Festival at the Daley Plaza www.ChicagoTurkishFestival.org. While there, in one of the booths I was handed this gift:
Seven Advice of Mevlana
#1
In generosity and helping others be
like a river,
#2
In compassion and grace be
like sun,
#3
In concealing others' faults be
like night,
#4
In anger and fury
be like dead,
#5
In modesty and humility
be like earth,
#6
In tolerance
be like a sea,
#7
Either exist as you are or
be as you look.

Shalom Joyce and thanks for your visit.
ReplyDeleteA Turkish Festival! That's new since I lived in Chicago. Did you see whirling dervishes??
Mevlana gave some good and poetic advice, I think.
Give my regards to Chicago.
Good advice from the Turkish Festival.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce! Wonderful gift! You must have had a great time there...
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments at Blogtrotter, now showing Kaunas. Never heard about it? ;) Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Good advice for those who heed.

ReplyDeleteYes, we did see whirling dervishes. It was Chicago's 7th Turkish Festival but my first time to hear about the event and go. The dancing and fashion show was spectacular!
