2/16/2016 - Outdoor Wednesday - #371 - Wilmette Coast Guard Preparing for a Rescue Mission

Greetings and Salutations!   If you would like to view Outdoor Themes click here: http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/.  Thank you Susan for being the hostess.

Person has fallen into the water.

Others are beginning to relieve person from his problem.

Here another person broke through the ice and cried out "HELP!"

Others are practicing a rescue mission.

Wilmette Coast Guard preparing for a rescue mission.  The skies are blue.  It is a sunny day but very cold out.  Several days before Lake Michigan in this bay had melted all the ice and now this is all new ice forming. Some areas a person could safely walk but other areas a person would break through the ice into the frigid water.   Both my husband and I have never viewed this exercise before.   What a surprise!

  2. That would have been interesting to watch. Thankfully it's an exercise, and not someone without help nearby.
