Today, I was looking up the word bitumen.
One word, lead me to discover that
Joseph Nicéphore Niépce took the first photograph:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Nicéphore_Niépce.
The plate, VIEW FROM THE WINDOW
AT LE GRAS, can be viewed at
Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center,
University of Texas, Austin.
Just requested book LIFE: 100 Photographs
That Changed The World from the
library. I can hardly wait to see it.
Research is my passion, it never ends.

  1. I like your barn photographs and the thoughts behind them. I get concerned about how most of them are not maintained and left to fall, so observing them closely and documenting them seems important. I had a photography teacher who liked to say that a camera is a way of teaching you to take photographs without a camera. Only put much more eloquently.

  2. Agreed, barns are disappearing from the U.S.A. landscapes. Now we see hay wrapped in plastic. Change happens; but we have cameras to keep record of what was and what is. What the future holds is beyond me, Libby. Time will tell. And so it is. Glad you visited.
