Wednesday, September 20, 2017 - Outdoor Wednesday - #454 - Sunflowers

Greetings and Salutations!

Thank you Susan for being the hostess.

This summer it was hard to find a field of sunflowers.  I learned today that there are annual and perennial sunflowers.  The annual seeds will bloom the first year planted.   However, it will probably take perennial sunflower seeds to bloom two years.  Year after year I look for fields of sunflowers and always find them on a different rural road.   I also have noticed that something else is always planted where sunflowers were planted before.

Today is a warm, humid gray day; but these sunflowers make me smile.

  1. I love sunflowers! Not native to Alaska, but many people plant them in their gardens. Because of the ample sunlight during summer, they grow very large. Love your photos!
